A: The EW-22D twists the stripped conductor strands into a tight helical bundle (7–12mm twist length) before the terminal is crimped onto the wire end. Without twisting, multi-strand flexible wire conductors remain as a loose fan of individual strands after stripping. When these loose strands enter the terminal barrel under the crimping die, some strands spread outside the barrel and are not captured in the crimp — producing a partial crimp that fails pull-force testing. More critically, when the operator inserts the crimped wire into a plastic connector housing cavity, loose stray strands catch on the cavity entrance and prevent full terminal seating. Twisting consolidates all strands into the crimp barrel and into a uniform tip profile that seats cleanly in housing cavities without strand snagging.
